NightOwl is a curated city discovery platform designed to help users discover venues, events, nightlife, social plans, restaurants, date-night ideas, local signals, and city experiences. Some features may use location information, check-ins, social activity, preferences, artificial intelligence, and publicly available information to generate recommendations.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information directly from you, automatically through your use of the Services, from third-party service providers, and from publicly available sources where appropriate.
1.1 Account Information
When you create or use a NightOwl account, we may collect:

- Username or display name
- Password or authentication credentials, if applicable
- Profile photo or avatar, if provided
- Home city or selected city
- Account preferences
- Subscription or entitlement status
- Communications with NightOwl support

1.3 Location Information
NightOwl may collect location-related information to power venue discovery, city recommendations, check-ins, friend activity, heat maps, safety-oriented features, and other location-based experiences.
Depending on your device settings, permissions, and use of the Services, this may include:
- Approximate location, such as city-level or general area location
- Precise location, if you grant permission
- Selected city or manually entered location
- Location associated with a check-in
- Distance between you and venues or events
- Nearby venue suggestions
- Location inferred from IP address, device settings, or user-selected city
We do not collect precise location information unless you grant the required device or browser permissions or otherwise provide location information through the Services. You can disable or limit location access through your device, browser, or app settings. Some features may not function properly without location access.
1.4 Check-In and Social Activity Information
If you use NightOwl check-ins, social discovery, or related features, we may collect:
- Venue check-ins
- Check-in date and time
- City and venue associated with a check-in
- Check-in photos, captions, vibe tags, reviews, reactions, or other user-submitted content
- Friend, follower, or connection activity, if social features are enabled
- Engagement with venues, events, itineraries, recommendations, and city signals
- Signals related to crowd activity, venue momentum, or popularity
Depending on product settings, certain check-in or social activity may be visible to other users, friends, users in the same city, or the broader NightOwl community. We will provide in-app controls where available to help you manage how this information is shared.
1.5 User Content
You may provide content through the Services, including:
- Reviews
- Photos
- Captions
- Comments
- Vibe tags
- Check-in notes
- AI chat messages or prompts
- Support messages
- Feedback or survey responses
- Venue suggestions or corrections
Please do not submit sensitive personal information, private information about others, or content you do not have permission to share.
1.6 AI Interaction Information
NightOwl may include AI-powered features, including itinerary generation, venue recommendations, date-night planning, event discovery, city intelligence, and chat-based assistance.
When you use these features, we may collect:
- Your prompts, questions, and instructions
- Your selected preferences and constraints
- Generated outputs shown to you
- Feedback on recommendations
- Metadata about AI feature usage
We may use AI interaction information to provide responses, improve the Services, personalize future recommendations, monitor abuse, troubleshoot issues, and evaluate performance. If you purchase a paid subscription, upgrade, or other paid feature, payment processing may be handled by third-party payment processors such as Stripe or by an app store provider.

We do not intentionally store full credit card numbers on our own servers. Payment information is generally collected and processed by third-party payment processors.

2. How We Use Information
We may use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Services
- Create and manage user accounts
- Personalize city, venue, event, nightlife, restaurant, and itinerary recommendations
- Generate AI-powered recommendations and summaries
- Enable check-ins, social discovery, and friend-based features
- Display venue momentum, crowd signals, heat maps, or city activity indicators
- Suggest venues, events, plans, or experiences based on preferences and location
- Process payments, subscriptions, upgrades, cancellations, and entitlements

NightOwl may use location information to provide features such as:

- Distance and walkability calculations

You control whether NightOwl can access precise location through your device or browser settings. You may also manually select a city or location where supported.
If you disable location access, NightOwl may still use your selected city, IP-derived approximate location, or other non-precise location signals to provide general city-level functionality.
NightOwl does not sell precise location information. NightOwl does not use precise location information for third-party advertising networks unless we provide additional notice and obtain any consent required by applicable law.
4. Check-Ins, Heat Maps, and City Signals
NightOwl check-ins are designed to help users understand where people are actually going, what venues are gaining momentum, and what is happening in a city in real time or near real time.
When you check in, NightOwl may use your check-in information to:
- Show your activity to other users or friends, depending on available privacy settings
- Improve venue recommendations
- Power crowd, vibe, momentum, and heat map features
- Detect venue trends and city activity
- Help prevent fake, abusive, or manipulated activity
- Improve NightOwl’s understanding of venue quality and relevance
NightOwl may aggregate or de-identify check-in activity to show broader city trends. For example, NightOwl may display that a venue or area is gaining activity without showing every individual user who contributed to that signal.
Users must not submit fake check-ins, automated check-ins, venue-manipulated check-ins, misleading activity, or content intended to distort NightOwl’s recommendations or city signals.
5. How We Share Information
We may share information in the following circumstances.
5.1 With Service Providers
We may share information with vendors and service providers that help us operate NightOwl, including:
- Hosting and cloud infrastructure providers
- Database providers
- Analytics providers
- Error monitoring providers
- Payment processors
- Email and notification providers
- Authentication providers

5.4 With Venues, Partners, or Business Users
NightOwl may provide venues, partners, or business users with aggregated, de-identified, or analytics-based information, such as general venue activity trends, city demand signals, check-in volume, or user interest patterns.
We do not provide venues or partners with your precise location history or individual-level private profile data unless you direct us to do so, it is part of a feature you use, or we provide notice and obtain any consent required by applicable law.
5.5 For Legal, Safety, and Security Reasons
We may disclose information if we believe it is reasonably necessary to:
- Comply with applicable law, legal process, or governmental requests
- Enforce our Terms of Service or policies
- Detect, investigate, or prevent fraud, spam, abuse, manipulation, or security incidents

- Golden Hour plans
- Tonight’s Move plans

AI-generated content may be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, or based on third-party information that changes without notice. You should independently verify venue hours, event details, age restrictions, dress codes, cover charges, reservation requirements, transportation options, safety conditions, and other important details before relying on a recommendation.
NightOwl may review and improve AI outputs, but NightOwl does not guarantee that AI-generated recommendations are accurate, safe, available, or appropriate for every user.
8. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Services, fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, maintain security, prevent fraud or abuse, and operate our business.
Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information, the purpose for which it is used, legal requirements, and operational needs.

12. Age Eligibility, Minors, and Children’s Privacy
12.1 Age Eligibility
NightOwl is intended for users who are at least 18 years old. By creating an account or using NightOwl, you represent that you are at least 18 years of age and have the legal capacity to agree to these Terms.
12.2 Age-Restricted Venues and Experiences
Some venues, events, recommendations, check-ins, or experiences displayed through NightOwl may be restricted to users who are 21 years of age or older, or may otherwise be subject to venue-specific age, identification, dress code, capacity, ticketing, or entry requirements. NightOwl does not guarantee admission to any venue or event and does not verify, control, or override the policies of third-party venues or event organizers.
12.3 Children’s Privacy
NightOwl is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take reasonable steps to delete that information.
12.4 Minors
Users under 18 are not permitted to create an account or use NightOwl. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we may suspend or delete the account and associated information, subject to applicable law.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.
However, no system, network, application, or method of transmission is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

NightOwl is operated from the United States. If you access the Services from outside the United States, your information may be collected, processed, stored, and transferred in the United States or other jurisdictions where our service providers operate.

16. Publicly Available Information and Venue/Event Data
NightOwl may collect, summarize, or reference publicly available information about venues, events, restaurants, nightlife, openings, closings, specials, performances, and city activity.
This information may come from public websites, public business listings, public event pages, public social media pages, venue websites, news sources, or other public sources.
NightOwl does not guarantee that publicly available information is accurate, complete, current, or available. Venues and events may change hours, pricing, availability, policies, age requirements, dress codes, reservations, menus, lineups, or other details without notice.
17. Push Notifications and Communications
If you enable notifications, we may send push notifications, emails, SMS messages, or in-app messages about:
- Account activity
- Friend or social activity
- Check-ins
- Venue or event recommendations
- City signals
- Trending venues
- Product updates
- Subscription information
- Safety or service notices
- Promotional content, where permitted
You can manage push notifications through your device settings and, where available, through in-app settings. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the unsubscribe link or by contacting us.

The “Last Updated” date at the top of this Privacy Policy indicates when it was last revised.
